Safeguarding Survey for Catholic Clergy

All clergy in Scotland are being invited to take part in a short, confidential survey as part of the SCSSA's ongoing work to develop safeguarding training and resources that are genuinely supportive of ministry as it is lived day to day.  We want to listen carefully to clergy experience so we can understand what support is most helpful in practice. Clergy response to the survey will help to shape future training and resources that are useful and and easily accessible.

SCSSA staff recognise two important realities: that safeguarding is one of many responsibilities carried by clergy, and that expectations and legal obligations in this area continue to develop. It is therefore important that training and resources are kept up to date, relevant to clergy experience, and offered in ways that are accessible alongside the demands of ministry.

The survey contains 28 questions and should take approximately 15–20 minutes to complete. Responses are confidential and will be received directly by Kinharvie, an organisational development charity supporting this work. Kinharvie will collate responses and provide the SCSSA with a summary of key themes. Individual responses will not be shared.  If, after completing the survey, you would like to make further relevant comments, please email Kinharvie by clicking here

Links to the online survey are being distributed to clergy by Diocesan staff.  Any Clergy who do not receive details of the survey can contact their Diocesan Safeguarding office or Chancellor to obtain these.  The deadline for completion is 5pm on Friday, 6 March 2026.
